Ultraviolet rays
Being in sunny island Singapore makes it inevitable for us to be exposed to ultraviolet (UV) rays. UV rays are the main cause of skin ageing problems such as dark spots, wrinkles, sunburns and even skin cancer. As harmful UV rays are more intense in summer at areas closer to the equator, know the UV rays well so as to protect yourself adequately from them.
While UVC rays and 90% of UVB rays are absorbed by the ozone layer, the remaining UVB rays attack the skin’s outer layer to result in sunburn and tanning. In addition, UVA rays affect even the dermis layer of the skin to inflict damage on fibroblasts and cause premature skin ageing.
